- KS4 – Year 10 and Year 11

- The International General Certificate of Secondary Education( IGCSE) courses are taught throughout Years 10 and 11 with pupils taking the examinations in May of the second year. These examinations are set, marked and certificated by external boards, for example the University of Cambridge. At Dallington School, most pupils will study between seven and nine subjects, most of which are compulsory, whilst others are optional. The compulsory subjects are English language and literature( two subjects), mathematics, coordinated science( two subjects), Spanish( also an IGCSE subject) and French. Two other subjects can be chosen from the options list. Clearly, our aim is to help our pupils achieve as many subject passes as possible. In order to validate their secondary studies in the Spanish system, pupils must attain at least four subject passes.
- In these final years of compulsory education, our teachers need to focus intensely on the examination syllabi and required standards. This does not mean that we adopt a different approach to learning. Pupils will still acquire the necessary knowledge , skills and understanding through exploration, investigation, creativity, and practical application. It is the end of one major stage of development and the preparation for the next one.
