La Manga became the heart of Spanish cricket this past week as Cricket España hosted a three-day National Girls’ Cricket Competition, bringing together young players from across the country for an action-packed festival of cricket.
Over the course of the event, the girls were divided into mixed teams, allowing players of different backgrounds and experience levels to play alongside one another. These squads featured current international stars from the Spanish women’s national team, giving younger players the unique opportunity to learn directly from role models who are already competing at the highest level.

The structure not only created an exciting level of competition but also fostered new friendships, a strong sense of team spirit, and a growing cricket community. Parents, coaches, and organisers praised the atmosphere of encouragement and togetherness, with players bonding both on and off the field.
The matches themselves were played with high intensity, showcasing developing skills, tactical awareness, and plenty of passion for the game. For many of the girls, it was their first taste of a national tournament environment, offering invaluable experience and memories that will last long after the final ball was bowled.

Speaking after the event, organisers highlighted the importance of giving girls more opportunities to play at this level:
“This competition was about much more than cricket—it was about connection, confidence, and building the future of women’s cricket in Spain.”
As the sport continues to grow across the country, the La Manga competition stands as a powerful example of how cricket can inspire teamwork, resilience, and friendship. Hopefully, parents will be left encouraged, knowing their daughters are part of a growing community with pathways leading all the way to international cricket and a specific goal of creating a team for the next Olympic games in 2028.

With smiles, new bonds, and plenty of cricketing highlights, the week proved to be a resounding success for our girls at Dallington and as a result Dallington will be part of the National finals to be held in October/November and an exciting glimpse of the bright future ahead for women’s cricket in Spain.
