At Dallington School, developing our students’ communication and critical thinking skills is one of our key objectives.
Through a wide range of methods and activities, our teachers help students acquire these skills, which will be so important in their personal and professional lives.
Debate, for example, plays a crucial role in their language and thinking. Through debate, students learn to structure their thinking, formulate and present arguments, and provide supporting evidence. Equally important, through debate, students must listen attentively to others’ opinions, respect them, develop counterarguments, use specific vocabulary, and follow debate protocols.
In the final topic of our «Social and Global Awareness» course, Year 4 and Year 5 students delivered an impressive debate, showcasing their remarkable potential. At Dallington School, students from a very young age have these kinds of opportunities to discover and deepen their language skills, as well as their communication, public speaking, and critical thinking abilities.
