KS3 – Years 7, 8 y 9
Key Stage 3 represents the start of secondary education. However, the curriculum and co-curriculuar approach is very similar to Primary. Pupils develop their knowledge deeper, and acquire more complex skills. They are taught by specialist teachers and, gradually, in specialist and subject rooms.
The assessment in Key Stage 3 is divided into:
- Day-to-day in-school formative assessment, an integral part of teaching and learning: the interactions between learners and teachers. Most importantly, all teachers should use a range of formative ongoing assessment strategies, across the curriculum to monitor pupil progress and inform the tracking document, which will be updated throughout the term and reviewed at the end of each term.
-
In-school summative assessment, involving the use of standardised tests that help inform parents of their child’s development and progress and help parents support their child at home in their learning.
