Extracurricular activities in Madrid: Building pupils’ confidence and independence

Extracurricular activities play an essential role in children’s personal development. More than a way to have fun or practise a sport, well-designed extracurricular activities in Madrid offer pupils the chance to explore their interests, develop new skills and gain confidence as they grow.

At Dallington School, these experiences extend the classroom and help every child build independence, responsibility and motivation.

A programme designed to support personal growth

Our extracurricular programme offers variety, high-quality instruction and a caring environment where pupils learn to take on challenges, collaborate and make responsible decisions. Each activity is led by experienced professionals who guide pupils with warmth and encouragement.

Among our extracurricular activities in Madrid, we offer:
• Football at Los Brezos (training on outstanding external pitches).
• Rugby and athletics at Hortaleza Rugby Club.
• Basketball with Movistar Estudiantes coaches.
• Volleyball.
• Dance.
• Padel.
• Art.

Sport as part of who we are

Sport has a special place in our school community because of its ability to build character, resilience and self-confidence.

This year began with a remarkable highlight:
We were invited to the National Cricket Championship in Alicante, where four of our pupils played in the final — and we won the cup! This national achievement reflects the exceptional talent and dedication of our students.

Sporting successes this term

Alongside this major milestone, our pupils have achieved outstanding results across different sports:

• Winners of the Primary Cricket Tournament at La Elipa.
• Winners of Year 8 Football (mixed category) at Richmond.
• Winners of Year 8 and Year 9 Rugby (mixed categories) at Richmond.
• Second place in Year 9 Rugby (mixed category) at Richmond.
• Second place in the Secondary Cricket Tournament at La Elipa.

Our pupils are also competing actively in:
• BISSL (British and International Schools Sports League).
• MSSP (Madrid Schools Sports Partnership).
• Federated Football League.
• Federated Rugby League.

How extracurricular activities build confidence and independence

Taking part in activities beyond the classroom helps pupils learn to manage their time, persevere and make decisions that nurture their independence.

Sport, creativity and collaborative learning help them:
• Face new challenges.
• Develop social skills in diverse situations.
• Understand the value of commitment and effort.
• Build strong self-esteem through group and individual achievements.
• Discover interests and talents they may not have explored before.

Choosing extracurricular activities in Madrid that foster confidence and independence is key to children’s overall development. At Dallington School, our programme combines sport, creativity and enriching experiences that help every pupil discover their strengths. We proudly celebrate their achievements, both inside and outside the classroom, as they grow into confident, active and inspired individuals.
