Our new pupils, with their parents and teachers have those special soft-landing moments, when they listen to the story of the Magical Dallington Forest, and meet the Dallington fairies. They absolutely love the\u00a0 story of our school! It symbolises the Dallington way of teaching: with care, joy and creativity. From that day forwards, storytelling takes\u00a0 a major role in our school life. Our marvellous garden and outside learning spaces, with its splendid plane trees, pine trees and arbours, contribute so easily to a storytelling ambience!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8180 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dallingtonschool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1_foto-2-blog-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"241\" height=\"321\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Why is storytelling so important at Dallington School?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">First and foremost children love stories \u2013 when it is done right! Stories can create magic and a sense of wonder of the world. Not only do stories teach us about life, ourselves and others, but they also help children to develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for others and other cultures, races and religions. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8182 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dallingtonschool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1_foto-3-blog-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">More over, storytelling enhances listening skills, promotes a feeling of well-being and relaxation, increases the willingness to communicate thoughts and feelings, encourages active participation, develops imagination, creativity and cooperation between children.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">For this reason, the first \u201chotseat\u201d training staff\u00a0 session in EYFS this academic course, lead by Miss Emily,\u00a0 who has a huge passion for books and reading, was about storytelling.
